8/16/2017

On  Saturday the 2nd of September four members of the WR Phillips team spent two hours collecting donations for the annual Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Taranki fundraiser.

Darrin, Michelle, Ryan and Max split into teams of two and split the task into an hour each, Darrin and Michelle forming the 10-11am shift and Max and Ryan forming the other 9-10am shift.  There was plenty of banter leading into Saturday with a healthy rivalry formed. The teams fundraised at Countdown Vogeltown with lots of foot traffic helping the flow of donations immensely.

"It was great to get out and help such a worthy cause and it was heart-warming to see how happy people were to donate."  said Michelle von Pein, Vehicle Administrator.

The WR Phillips team raised $795.30  which was nearly 25% of the total $3760 that was raised on Saturday.  The funds donated will assist MS Taranaki with their mission of provide and maintain the highest level of services available with the funds available.

Car Safety Tips: TWIRL Check

8/15/2017

Tyres:
  • Check the tread depth. Minimum legal depth is 1.5mm but the more tread you have the better the grip and the safer you'll be.
  • Check the tyre pressure-correct levels can usually be found on the inside door frame.
  • Look for cracks or bubbles in the sides.
  • Look for sharp objects stuck in the tyres.

Windscreen, Wipers and Mirrors:
  • Check your wiper blades for wear and tear.
  • Clean your mirrors and windscreen inside and out.
  • Get your windscreen fixed if it's chipped or cracked.
  • Check your windscreeen washer fluid is and the spray is working.

Indicators:
  • Turn your hazard lights on and walk around the car-check all indicators are flashing.

Rust:
  • Look for obvious areas of corrosion that can weaken the car's structure.

Lights:
  • Check lenses are clean and not cracked or hazy.
  • Check your headlights, reversing lights and brake lights are working. Check your back lights by reversing close to a wall so you can see the reflection in your rear view mirror.

Tech Tip: Volkswagen Blind Spot Sensor

8/15/2017

The Blind Spot Monitor uses sensors in the rear to monitor the area alongside and behind the vehicle.  This system means a vehicle up to 20 metres away can be detected.  The System begins working from a speed of 15 km/h and can alert the driver to a potential hazard through a flashing LED in the exterior mirror. The LED will come on in the mirror on the side which the hazard has been detected. If the driver continues to signal to change lanes, the same LED will flash more brightly and draws the drivers attention to the hazard.

The Beast just got Bigger

8/7/2017

Here at WR Phillips, we decided that to commemorate the arrival of the toughest truck in the land, The Triton Huntaway, we would make our own.   Enter the Maui.  The Maui is a Mitsubishi GLX-R 4WD Double Cab, optioned out to make the best value truck, even better value.

We've taken the 17" Alloys and upgraded them to a 20" DMT Fuel Wheel and Rim Combo, giving the 4WD an even tougher stance and better off-road ability.  To make a great looking truck stand out even more, we have fitted the Maui with Red and Black Decals and Powder Coating.  A Bonnet Protector and Window Tints finish the look.  For those that want to take the Maui off the beaten track, we've fitted it with a Nudgebar, LED Light Bar, Tuffdeck and Towbar.

With the 2.4L MIVEC Turbo Diesel powering all four wheels, a 965kg payload and Fuel Economy of 7.6L/100km all for the Drive-Away Price of $49 990 the Beast has just got Bigger.
